Diana Nesko
Clinical Experience and Approach
Diana is a Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist and has worked with individuals, couples, and families in private practice, mental health clinics, and community agencies (serving adults and adolescents). Drawing from her own experiences as a Latin American, Diana brings a cultural sensitivity and awareness to her practice. She understands the importance of addressing the intersectionality of identity, acknowledging the impact of race, ethnicity, gender, and other factors on an individual's mental well-being. She is passionate about helping others discover ways to deepen their connections while also elevating their sense of self.
Her niche is identifying interactional cycles, patterns and/or behaviors that align with with a client’s values while also identifying those that contribute to lack of closeness, conflict, and communication issues. Her therapeutic modality is primarily from an EFT approach; helping clients recognize how their relationship dynamics derive from an attachment perspective. Diana is Prepare/Enrich certified, a program of relationship assessment and enhancement for premarital and committed couples. Diana is currently working toward becoming a Certified Sex Therapist (CST) and is under the supervision of Rivka Sidorsky, LCSW-C, Sex Therapist.
In Diana’s Words:
“I take a very personable and humanistic approach to therapy and will create a non-judgmental atmosphere filled with empathy, validation and encouragement. Though I find these traits to be integral to the therapeutic relationship, I am by no means a ‘cheerleader’ therapist where I only operate from a stance of support or telling you what you want to hear. With supportive transparency and authenticity, I take pride in helping to empower clients to create meaningful experiences, foster change, and build their sense of resiliency.”
About Me
I am married and have two school-aged kiddos–who keep me plenty busy! Our family is a military family and we get the unique opportunity to live in different areas to tap into different parts of ourselves and our interests. When I am not in mom/wife mode, I make sure to invest my energy in the form of connecting, re-charging, and creating new memories with friends and loved ones. To destress, I have particularly enjoyed strength training, exploring and participating in diverse fitness/wellness hobbies throughout the year, and trying new locally owned restaurants. I am a firm believer that adventure is out there through food, new travel experiences, and people you meet along the way :)
